Saw - sun splitting into rainbows through a crystal in the van window, scattering brilliant bits of light across my son's smiling face; sunlight dancing on the water, gilding friends, calling dragonflies to land and drink the drops from our fingertips.
Heard - children laughing, splashing, joyful, free; quiet conversations from the adults, catching up on a year's news in a few hours.
Smelled - pork barbecue, cooked long and low, spicy, sweet, pungent; sunscreen on sun-warmed skin, reminiscent of a childhood spent at the beach, sporting in the waves.
Tasted - strawberries on pineapple angel food cake, sweet, tart, cold, delightful; guacamole, made without cilantro so it didn't taste of soap, fresh, chunky, creamy,not enough of it.
Felt - the cool caress of the water in the pool, silken, enveloping, welcoming; the delightful shiver of air-conditioning on skin still damp from swimming; and a bonus - a sense of contentment in the moment, a moment that stretched through the afternoon, coupled with a sense of looking-forward to happy days to come.

A soft towel fresh out of the dryer

Fireworks in the distance
I saw:
My little nephews eyes get all wide when I handed them a sparkler
and lit it up.
The sun...finally out today after so much rain.
