Not a bad way to start the day.

May I add my own...

*Coffee with Irish cream, creamer
*A ripe nectarine

*sparrows and swallows frolicking in
the cool breeze
*Lizards running through my back

*The happy chirping of the birds
as they danced in the trees
*The melodic hum of tires on the
*The fragrant aroma of my Lily
plants and the purple lantana
*The soft fur of my cats and my
*The breeze as it caressed my face

Have a wonderful day, Cygnus

Saw - sun splitting into rainbows through a crystal in the van window, scattering brilliant bits of light across my son's smiling face; sunlight dancing on the water, gilding friends, calling dragonflies to land and drink the drops from our fingertips.

Heard - children laughing, splashing, joyful, free; quiet conversations from the adults, catching up on a year's news in a few hours.

Smelled - pork barbecue, cooked long and low, spicy, sweet, pungent; sunscreen on sun-warmed skin, reminiscent of a childhood spent at the beach, sporting in the waves.

Tasted - strawberries on pineapple angel food cake, sweet, tart, cold, delightful; guacamole, made without cilantro so it didn't taste of soap, fresh, chunky, creamy, not enough of it.

Felt - the cool caress of the water in the pool, silken, enveloping, welcoming; the delightful shiver of air-conditioning on skin still damp from swimming; and a bonus - a sense of contentment in the moment, a moment that stretched through the afternoon, coupled with a sense of looking-forward to happy days to come.

grilled peaches
(you absolutely must try this)
A grape popsicle

A soft towel fresh out of the dryer
(I always have to touch it to my cheek)
The heat from a charcoal grill
( love grillin' - I'm a year 'rounder )

Fresh coffee being made
Steak being grilled

Backyard party happiness
Fireworks in the distance

I saw:
My little nephews eyes get all wide when I handed them a sparkler
and lit it up.
The sun...finally out today after so much rain.

Peace - Rene

Lady Rene...

I thank you so much for sharing your Senses with us.

Lucky towel...

I'm hearing the continuation of fireworks...

Kids, wide-eyed, and sparklers-- inseparable images, I'd say...

Thanks Lady Rene... Have a peaceful Fourth...

I really like your sensual and interesting writing and lovely photographs! I also appricate the mythological touch.

I will be back soon.
