Fulfill
What if there is no after-life
no heav'n, no hell, no "thing"--
no Elysian Field, no ripe
grain bursting forth? No spring
of wisdom from which to draw deep;
no sun, no moon, no stars,
nor Karmic Debt to sow and reap--
save NOW in which you are?

I kind of like to think that there is an after life. That someday I will be reunited with all of those that went on before me.
I don't know why this post brought to mind the Nickelback song "If Today Was Your Last Day" it is a great song.

I guess that line of thinking leads to personal responsibility and living in the here and now. Wholly honourable aspirations, me thinks.
Carpe Diem!
Lady Felinae,
I too believe we go on, but the point is not to look towards a "future" for your happiness but to take it in the moment, to take the moment IN...
Thanks for the lyrics, Lady-- I hadn't heard that song...

Lady Wendy-- Precisely!

Carpe Sativa!!!
lol!!!
Very John Lennon-esque "Imagine"
Make you think and it also makes me think of Carlin's rant on the subject.
Peace - Rene
This now is moving toward another...and another...and if I am patient, then one day I will find the moment I want to keep eternal, and dwell in it until entropy has finished his work and all is cold dust in the void.
Meanwhile, I will bow to the illusion that there is more than now, that I have some choice in the succession of moments, that I may shape them to my will...and I will hope, Sir, that the "now" I seek is not too long in the offing.
Shade and Sweetwater,

If there is only a "now", then life is very dark and stormy. What leads mankind is the ability to dream and to foresee. What keeps us all fighting and building and inventing is our look to the next day. Including yourself; so it says the statement underneath your Blog's name! :)
"there mayn't be glen nor dell nor tale but certainly they'll be ...
a place among the heather bush or underneath some tree...
old gods or new tis' but a wish for none I've known can sway...
nor offer but a wish or prayer to guide beyond one day...
So I'll not wait nor meditate on what will surely come...I'd rather dance and play the flute than live so worrisome......"
Ah, leave it to Lady Rene to come up with the perfect link-- Carlin! ha!
I'll have to search, Lady Rene...
Thanks for the comment!
Sylvia...
Hmm... So it do, don't it...
