Dragonflies In Eden

Thus I call my Garden, because the name is pretty.

And venturing along the rock path leading thus, I spied a Dragonfly...

S/he was perched sunning at the tip of the fallen limb-cum-cucumber-trellis.

I greeted, and said "I'm coming in to the garden..."
Thought again, and asked for permission to enter the Garden...

Then asked was my garden being enjoyed! ha!

I thought of a friend whose spirit animal (one of) is dragonflies, and I greeted her by name through her cousin...

And the little creature darted up into the air, hovered for a few dragonfly seconds (which seemed to me like sixty-six percent of one of mine) and gently alighted back on the twigtip.

Thus greeted, I passed slowly within eighteen inches of the branch without disturbing this fauna-- nor, I see now, the other of like color [sienna with some of the most azure tails I've ever seen, and evanescent-cloud wings]. And this one proceeds right fast-- as dragonflies are wont to do-- into a tomato vine and cometh back with a tasty snack.

No, not the tomato! Ha! Dragonflies hunt the other little fauna of flies, gnats, small non-stinging bees who like to hover about...

As do I for a few moments, kind of taking it all in:
Morning heat beginning to edge towards afternoon inferno...
The large bumblebee-esque one pollinating the purple wisteria...
The red asp hunting in the grass...
The black one not sure what to make of the other in the wisteria...
The oak-camo'ed beetles who particularly love basking/hunting on the glowing faces of the seed-producing sunflowers...

Wind...Sun...Earth...

Breathing easier now, I head back down the Cinder path...

Slainte...

Beautiful my friend,

Thank you for allowing me to share in your Eden, for a moment.

I always enjoy accompanying you on your delightful jaunts out into your haven.

The dragonfly sounds simply stunning, perhaps one will grace me with it's elegant presence today at some point.

Thank you, Cygnus

Oh, Sir, it sounds simply lovely - a little piece of peace in the middle of the muddled city.

Dragonflies are messengers, lovely little go-betweens for this world and the Other. I find them lucky to have about. 'Round here, we have the brown and blue sort, four wings blurring as they zip past. They're welcome visitors to Casa de Crazy.

Thanks for the glimpse at your Eden, Sir.

Shade and Sweetwater,
K

Are you sure you didn't see fairies in the garden. Some look very much like dragonflies, you know. I, on the other hand, enjoy my hummers in the morning. They love to chase each other around the feeders. And they'll buzz you if you stand on the porch near the feeders as if to say, "Intruder alert!" "Go away!"
The pictures of your garden are delightful....want to work in my yard?
