You know, I never could get through this song dry eyed...and Sinead just makes that even more difficult

Beautiful choice..Sir

I salute you.

I've always enjoyed singing this song...not that I could compare to Sinnead, but then...who can??

Oddly, most folks think it's a woman singing to her love...but it's actually a father speaking to his son about to go off to war.

Still...beautiful...

Well darn you! You set me off on a Davy Spillane youtube-a-thon.

I absolutely LOVE the Uilleann pipes, they speak to my soul.

Madame Asphodel--

Now I'm pretty sure I love you...

The Uillean are a soul-call, oui?
And none do better than Spillane.

Merci, mon Fleur Amie!

Lady Rene--
I heard the song was from a Father's perspective to his son, but... when I heard Sinead sing it-- Swanpimples all over my hide... seeme it should be from a woman. Seems right form Sinead...

Thanks, M'Lady Rene!!

To war, is it, Lady K, and not to flee the famine?

Thanks for teaching this ol' bird something...

Some beautiful scenery from Eire and such a beautiful song with the haunting melody from Davey Spillane and his Uillean pipes. ♡

I've heard this song a lot, not least because I'm married to a Danny who's a quarter Irish, but I've never heard such a beautiful version. It's usually some drunk bloke singing it to him as a joke. This captures the real beauty...

It is at that, Lady Dianne.

Thanks for the visit, Lady!

Thank you, Lady Pinkerbell. My sentiments exactly, first time I heard her sing it. It's why I chose this version.

Thanks for the comment, Lady...
